I actually needed a new PSU, and was going to get the HIVE 750w after a very... lengthy... discussion on here. This was just to good of a deal to pass up at $49.99 AR. Not modular but I'll deal with it thanks for posting this!

is this too much with a PII X4 955 and HD5830 and find a cheaper alternative instead?

750 would be overkill just for that unless you're planning on crossfiring later on

It's overkill, but reviews show that this unit has 87% and higher efficiency under 25-60% load, so this would have been a good power supply for your system since $50 won't get you much else.
