Cheap Gaming rig for my brother

Thread Starter
My brother wants me to build him a budget (£650) gaming rig, so ive gone with amd.
Check the thumbnail for what i have so far.
i have a spare case and CPU cooler for him so i don't need to buy him them, but i can't decide on a GPU, so would appreciate help with that.
also if you can make it any cheaper that would be nice

the site i'm using is http://www.overclockers.co.uk

so far with tax its £530

Just to point out but scan is cheaper

Ditch the 750w PSU and go with the TX650V2, hell you could run this rig on a 450w PSU with a 6950.

I'd probably go with SLi 560Ti's or give him yours and you get an upgrade or something.

EDIT - Just saw it said 530, i thought it said 330, lol

Go with a second hand GPU, check on here you might get a deal.

Comps

Another edit - http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=42012 today only

In the interest of saving money that is a lot of power supply (although I am not really one to talk)

+1 for scan. Got the majority of my parts there.

I don't think I would go with an X6 for a budget gaming rig. I would pick up X4 BE. Currently most games don't use 6 cores much better than 4. Plus you should be able to hit higher clockspeeds (if your overclocking) while staying cooler using the X4 vs X6. And it should save you a few bucks.

Ive heard very good things about scan, so look into buying there too.

And drop the CPU to a PII x4 955 and get a ~500W quality PSU. Spend the money saved to get a better GPU.

I have to agree, the X6 is overkill. I think you can pick up an x4 real cheap now.

The 955 will be fine, i'm wondering if you should just stick with 4gb of memory as well.

That'll save you another £20

^^ This, but still go with dual channel (2x2GB) RAM.

I know in the US right now RAM is really cheap so the difference between 4GB and 8GB is like $20. Which is like nothing
