is my 6850 under performing? - Page 4

^ to op....hd 6850 is comparable to gtx 460 and both r more than enough for 1280x1024..something is definitely wrong with ur rig or u r overreacting.....

i have gtx 460 and i feel 99% of the game run very very smooth at highest settings excluding metro 2033's n the likes...so no need to get depressed...

try reinstalling windows and then doing fresh driver installs and then install games etc and chk whether u still get the problem

and most importantly does all ur games behave like that....if yes then it may be faulty video card or some stability issues with ur system ...if no then u r fine...it happens as different combination of hardware behave differently....

I guess this card just turned out to be weaker than I thought, that's all. thanks for the help!

-edit- just saw your benchmark, thanks very much. those frames definately look way better than mine though.

My benchmark tool crashes (the .bat that is), can't even open it, grrrr...

Sounds to me like some stability issues going on. If you are not even able to open a benchmark without a crash, I would def. recommend a reinstall of your os and start fresh with the newest drivers. I picked up multiple fps on 3dmark11 just going from 11.8 to 11.9. Also, as said before, oc that thing. You should have no problem getting it to at least 850mhz even with a poor cooling case.

6850 user here - MSI 6850 also, but Cyclone version here. Different CPU too, but maybe my experience helps. I can get solid 60 fps with DX11 and HR textures, "Extreme" preset @ 1440x900, BUT I had to 2 things in order to get that framerate: setting the tesselation manually to 2x in CCC and lower the "Water" setting to high, so it doesn't consume the resources for something I'm not even looking at.

I'd say overclock your GPU. My MSi 6850 is way above stock settings. Pick up a faster CPU....my I3 2120 is rated a higher performance than your amd x4 be 955.

I always check what other programs are running before I game just to make sure nothing is going to get in my way...like a scheduled scan or something.
