AP-15s for Silver Arrow

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
Do you guys have any experience using 2x AP-15s on Silver Arrow replacing the stock TY-140s? Would the temperatures beat TY-140s if both running at full speed? I'm asking this because sadly my case doesn't have enough room for TY-140s(Front being blocked by memory sticks, if I place it between the 2 towers it'll be too high preventing me to close the side lid).

Also would there be any noticeable differences between 2 / 3 AP-15s?

Any opinion welcomed.

For a while, I ran two AP-15s on my Silver Arrow. Temps were slightly lower than the TY-140s. I ran the TY-140s on PWM only. You may get just a bit more performance if they're run on a wide open 3-pin connector, but I still think the AP-15s are better for that. The AP-15s will make just a bit more noise, but nothing major. Good Luck!

Edit: A third AP-15 would be a very marginal change, if any, in temps.

So it seems that even though AP-15s are smaller than TY-140s, they still perform better compared to TY-140s on Silver Arrow at full speeds. I'll probably mount my third AP-15 on the rear output

Anyway thanks for the info, keep em coming

of course they will perform better at fullspeed cause they run faster / pushing more, but they are much louder than ty140

When mounted on the heatsink, I couldn't really pick them out over the other fans in my case. I have a lot of ap-15s, but they're dialed down with a fan controller.

I am running 2 AP15's and 1 TY140 on my D14 (AP15->TY140->AP15) and I have been very happy with the noise/performance.

Overall, temps are 3-4 C better...and they are way better looking than the stock Noctua fans. I know you are running in a SA, but it is similar enough to my D14 (in my experience) that I thought I would share my experience.
