I installed these over the preview 3 driver to see and it said they are the exact same version number which confirms what they tweeted about them being the same driver.
I don't get why they neglected to mention everything that people care about in the release notes... very strange.
And just as strange as that is the fact that the WHQL procedure at AMD didn't work like this until now. AMD should explain how these drivers are WHQL and already incorporate the changes introduced with the Preview 3 driver which came out, what, a week ago ? According to AMD's normal WHQL procedure, there isn't enough time to release WHQL drivers with those changes (including preview 1, 2 and 3) so soon.
A good example is looking at what happened last year: when AMD released the HD6800 series, people had to do with 10.10, and then over the next days AMD released 10.10a, 10.10b, 10.10c, 10.10d and finally, 10.10e, and people had to use one of those drivers when 10.11 came out because 10.11 drivers didn't have support for the HD6800 series, because they were already in testing when at least some of those hotfix drivers were released. People only got HD6800 series support again in Catalyst 10.12.
So, why is this year different ? What is going on ?Edited by tpi2007 - 10/31/11 at 12:43pm
