Which GTX 570 - Quiet and Cool

Thread Starter
Hello! I have a Corsair 500r and am shopping for a different GTX 570 that will be a better fit for airflow and quietness. Right now I am between the EVGA SuperClocked GTX 570 and the MSI Twin Frozr III GTX 570. I left the Asus DCII out because I would like option for SLI in the future. I had the Gigabyte 570 OC which exhausts all the air into the case and that has been a problem for heat, making the GPU fans spin loud. From my understanding the EVGA exhausts out the rear, and the MSI exhausts out the rear and towards the front. I should be able to manage the heat much better with both... but which would be a better fit for overall quietness and coolness considering my case? I have the default setup of fans right now which is 2 120mm front intake, 1 200mm side intake, and 1 120mm rear exhaust. Thanks!

the MSI would be better, EVGA has never gotten high marks in the cooler department but The FROZERs are not ref. PCBs so you loose the option to water cool later on.

Would the heat that the MSI exhausts into the case affect it much? I guess that's mostly why I considered a reference card, to keep all the heat out. I don't plan to OC much, and probably will not water cool. Just want to keep noise level down mostly. Not silent, just low. Thanks for your input!

Any quiet GPU will be exhausting the heat into your case. That is just how they are made due to the fact that exhausting heat out of the PCI-e back port is a huge bottleneck.

That being said, I have the Twin Frozr III and it is the quietest GPU I have "never" heard and I got it specifically because I don't like my computer being loud. It also is one of the coolest 570s (if not the most) on the market today.

I have 2 twin frozr IIIs and I can't hear them over my case fans. I had a reference msi card, and it was really, really loud. I still haven't heard these cards run yet. My case fans are kind of loud though, so that might have something to do with it. These cards also run about 20c cooler then the other card I had.

Awesome, thanks. So far sounds like the MSI is the clear winner. Do you think my case has adequate airflow for the heat or should I consider extra fans as well? Where would extra fans help the most? Appreciate the advice.

The 500r has a mesh side panel similar to my NZXT Vulcan. Any heat dissipated by the Twin Frozr should exit that direction as well as out the back.

As long as you have at least one exhaust fan, you should be OK.

Yea, You can also try putting a fan on the exterior in the back to help exhaust more heat from the PCI area, OP.

Flip the side fan so it's set to exhaust instead of intake and that should take care of 80% of hot air inside your case.
If you want to install extra fan I'd suggest putting one on the bottom and either removing the top HDD cage or turning it around to not restrict airflow.

I can't hear my DirectCU II unless I put my ear next to it's fans, even at load, but it could've been a bit smaller and lighter for my taste.
