ASUS GTX570 DCII in SLI?

Thread Starter
Anyone running dual ASUS GTX570 DCII in SLI with a discrete sound card? If so could you post what mobo you're using as I seriously doubt I'll be able to get 'em to fit in my Sabertooth.

Yeah DCIIs are not exactly build for SLI you wouldn't be able to fit them in any motherboard unless you found an SLI extension bridge. If such a thing exists you could run them in PCI-E 1 and 3 but It would be much easier with a different card.

There's been several of these threads recently. The bottom line is, a DCUII is not designed for multi-GPU setups. They just sprew out too much heat. That's what reference designs are for. Stupidly, ASUS discontinued its reference design in place of this 3-slot foolishness.

Really?

Before I watercooled my 6950s, the top card never went over 76 degrees. Admittedly, I had my own fan profile running on them, because the Asus fan profile is ridiculous, it waits until meltdown before rising the fans above 20%, but my fans never went over 60%, and I had less than a 1/2" gap between the cards.

Reference cards are crap in comparison... In my opinion.

Ah dude your on intel you shouldnt have a problem finding a motherboard that will work, it just wont be a cheap one. On the AMD side I think gigabyte or msi would have been the best choices, I just bought one of these in hopes I dont get temped to sli it lol. My mobo will fit 2 though but no sound card, just a wifi adapter than I would need to sell (pci-e) and get a regular pci one or use a router to recieve the signal.

By the way, what do you use to overclock it, Im pretty disappointed with the crappy software, I hope I dont regret this over the msi one I WAS going to get lol I just like the little extras asus did like the full board brace and MASSIVE cooler in hopes of getting s good gpu that overclocks good.

Don't SLI two of them go for another 570 but an MSI TWIN FROZR 3.

Yup.

I'm talking about the GTX 580 DirectCU II, which produces and dissipates a lot more heat than a 6950 DirectCU II- a LOT more heat, particularly when overclocked. You're also one of the lucky ones who can fit the two cards with space between, it isn't the case for most of us without that Gigabyte board until LGA 2011 hits.

I have Asus GTX 570 Direct CU II in SLI. They are working quite good. The top card heat is about 77 degrees with 46% fan during the GTA EFLC. The bottom card have about 54 degrees with 28% fan. It's not bad. The max heat of this card is 97 degrees, so what the problem for all of you to make an SLI of this cards? In other games they also working very good, like for example in Witcher 2.

To fit your i7-2600k + Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD (PCIE x1) and two 2.5 slot-width Asus GTX570 DCII, Asus P8P67 Pro (and P8P67 Deluxe) is one candidate.

676

However, I have also read that the gap of only half a slot width will lead to higher temperature of the upper card.
So, beware!

Edit:
I remember reading a study on the the Asus DCII cooling. It shows that if there is no gap between the 2 cards, the top card will run into thermal trouble, leading to possibly BSODs. If there is one slot width clearance, then the top card is OK. If there are two slot width clearance, then the top card is thermally happy.
For the P8P67 Pro and P8P67 Deluxe, there will be 1/2 slot clearance. Therefore, this is going to be a little questionable. IMHO, it will work out OK if careful air management is done inside the case. But even so, do not expect the temperature numbers to be pretty.
