Hrm..instead of spending as much as I will likely spend in the next 5 years on food on my computer, I would probably just set aside x amount of money so that I could have a consistently HIGH END system [as opposed to massive overkill, top of the line enthusiast performance...for the short term] for a long time.

This means that I enjoy PC gaming at a consistently high level of fidelity and whatnot without having to upgrade again in 2 years when my 10,000 dollar rig is obsolete and I want the "next new thing"

IMO: 2,000 dollar rig every 2 years for 10 years >>>>>>>>> a single 10,000 dollar rig.
