The true geeks of this forum will come out when 8 core benchmarks get leaked. I look forward to that Octocore battle between a Xeon 2687W and a FX-8170. That Xeon is going to make BD look even worse then it already does.
I'm looking forward to those benchies, I thought SB-E would be bringing an 8 core beast @ $999 right now.
I don't know why people are surprised with those prices though.
990X - $999 --> 3960X
980 - $589 --> 3930K with unlocked multiplier.
There's no surprises in this pricing scheme.

That's why I'm thinking of holding out for the next revision of motherboards, I wonder how long it'll be before we get what Intel was supposed to deliver. Based on X58 history a lot of great boards came out later.
