As the title says. looking for a upgrade from the 4870 with a budget of 200-250$. Gaming rig is just over 2 years old

Gaming wise I play MMO's and Single player games.

Any input is appreciated

a Radeon HD6870 goes for about that price range and would be a good upgrade. otherwise if you wanted Nvidia the GTX560 or even GTX560 Ti might be a good pick.

since you play MMO's they rarely support sli or crossfire and never really support anything higher than DX10 so you dont need a really strong card. as for the single player games depends on what you actually play.

The 6870 1g or 2g is the card with the unlocking potential? And if so which Company has the the highest unlock rate. Remember seeing it on here but didn't save the page

As for games. Recently I completed the Witcher 2. Dragon Age 2. As far as future releases I plan on playing BF3, Skyrim, Assassins Creed revalations etc

nevermind I think that is a higher rated card.

a 6870 will do you fine if your running at 1080p, if your going higher or using multiple displays you may need to step up to a 6950/6970 but I if your only using one display you should be more than happy with a 6870

Yes I should have stated, my main Monitor is a 23' 1920x1080 res and a 2nd 19' 1440x900 res. So maybe I should def up the budget. Will check the review out. Thanks
