Won't POST with new Phenom

I did make a thread before but after that I went on holiday/vacation so the thread would've been abandoned.
From an Athlon II to a Phenom II 1090T, and my motherboard wouldn't POST. I tried clearing CMOS many times, and after sending it back to the retailer I purchased from for testing they said the CPU is perfectly fine.
Which doesn't make any sense to me. The BIOS I was using was perfectly fine to handle the Phenom (even though it isn't the latest), but it didn't POST. So, I'm not sure what to think...
I was gonna update my BIOS to the latest before installing the Phenom, but I didn't want to risk it unnecessarily, but if my retailer says it's fine I might not have a choice.
So, could the RAM be a part of this or should I just BIOS update?

Try doing a bios update its easy to do now so you dont have any real worries

Just be sure to read the instructions on the website and it will be as easy as counting 1.2.3

There's your issue right there!
The Phenom

I think your mobo might be the issue, take both the CPU and Mobo back to the retailer in person and see if they can post. Tell them you think the mobo is bad.

So the RAM wouldn't cause any issues?
Of course RAM can cause it not to POST, try with 1 stick of RAM, or as I've had to - a spare set. RAM is cheap, so I always keep a "testing" stick or two around.

Also might help if you add your specs.

Dead Motherboard, could also be a faulty PSU.

If everything posts with the athlon and all you do is take the athlon out and put the phenom in then its a bios problem.
If you put the athlon back in and it still doesnt post you borked something.

The Athlon is in right now. Just my motherboard won't POST if the Phenom is in.
