Network adapter issue?

Thread Starter
Hey all,

Currently running with the onboard network adapter on my main rig's mobo. Most of the time (~60%), when I start my PC, I will not have internet access, and I'll right click the system tray icon and hit troubleshoot, at which point Win7 does some of it's hoodoo, resets the adapter and all is well. It has done this for 2 clean installs of the OS.

I am suspecting that installing a wired network adapter card may resolve this issue... Can anyone tell me how to confirm this?

Also, if buying an adapter, my choices are:
Bigfoot Networks
Killer 2100 Gaming PCIe Network Card
- $100
or
Intel
Gigabit PCIe X1 Adapter
- $40
Is the Bigfoot worth it in terms of reliability? I really do not do, and do not plan on, any super intense online gaming where speed/lag is of concern.

your motherboard has a Realtek 8111D chip (10/100/1000 Mbit)
Which is a 1GbE port

which is the same as the bigfoot networks and the intel network cards.

I would just go to the realtek website and grab the drivers for your Motherboard and install them.

Absolutely not. Not only you won't see difference between NIC's, but also the Intel Pro 1000CT is superior. Their drivers are updated every month, and they're more useful both software and hardware wise. The Killer NIC is a P.O.C. Crap drivers, it's nothing more than a gimmick.

Either Realtek's driver downloading site is F'ed, or my internet-foo is weak - cannot download from any of their sites/mirrors... Gigabyte's support page has an older driver than I am currently running.

That was kinda what I was thinking, thanks for the confirmation.
