Just need to find a place with 2 GT's in stock (for intake) and finished.

Any suggestions and an idea where to get the GT's would be great. Or if you know anyplace cheaper with these parts.

Planning to buy tomorrow if non of these parts don't go out of stock again.

*back to original post*

No real budget but every dollar I save is one less ramen I'll have to eat for dinner.

So far I this is my build list (all from newegg, if you know places that have parts cheaper please let me know).

I already have monitor/keyboard/mouse/OS/PSU (TX950).

Anything I should switch up? I wouldn't mind trimming down the system.

Have HDD prices gone up? I remember buying my Spinpoint F3 for 60/70 last year. Is the sata 3 version worth 150?

Should I get the z68 motherboard? Not sure if I'll use it's extras. Also open to mATX boards, if anybody can suggest a few good ones.

Also recommendations for the smallest case that fits everything would be great.

Thanks all.

Edit getting the i7 2600k it seems. Finally found some more benches and it seems it'll save me a buttload of time.

Double edit: back to 2500k.

Looks good to me!

I'd be surprised if your CM 690 II didn't fit everything just fine, and I have no problem recommending that case.

Ya hdd prices gone up a lot from thailand floods. Get a i7 2600k for the hyper threading. More ram is also good for photoshop cs5. Get z68 for the quick synch and since you got an ssd, z68 ssd cache feature is good. The $150 hdd isn't worth it at all.

Hey,

Great build so far I have the DCUII ASUS and I don't think its work it unless you don't plan to SLI otherwise you might have problems.

Photoshop and Dreamweaver aren't to CPU heavy apps because its basically still images so you should be fine for that and the i5 2500k gives the best performance for a gaming pc to date so thats a good choice.

The HDD prices have gone up I got a couple of seagate barracudas for $59 for 1tb and Samsung spinpoint F3's for $69 :S no they are $109 for the sata 3 equivalent, but it is dramatically faster I have both and I can tell you the extra money for the sata 3 is worth it because that wont be outdated for a while.

In the end this is a great build but I would consider changing to the GTX 580 if you have the money Bf3 will be the highest GPU intensive game for a while so your GPU will last for a while unless windows 8 comes out with DX12 :S in that case :S because then all the new mobo's are supports PCIe 3.0 :S which means there are going to be upgrades really soon, so go check with a lot of experts and ask around if DX12 will come out with windows 8 and if the new GPU's will require PCIe 3.0. If so then go find a good motherboard with support for the 'Ivy Bridge' CPU and the PCIe 3.0 as well

All in all great build just really consider the futre and whats parts you might need for it.

everything looks perfect, love that case!!

Where are you located? I'm selling my HAF 922 so I could shave 40 bucks off your price

For your build I would suggest dropping the Nocta and getting a 212 +. I achieved 4.8ghz on a 2500k and never went over 74 degrees under load with a 212+.

Sig rig staying complete and being used by the missus. She's complaining her Sims 3 isn't running up to par on her laptop (so it all works out for me).

And if I get the 570 will be sticking to single card for at least awhile (last purchase till next gen).

I tried shoving a 580 into the build but its another $200 and that could feed me for a whole 2 weeks so no can do.

Should I wait for HDD to stabilize or just buy the cheapest sata 3 hdd as my data drive?

Is the i7 worth it? I'm still wobbling on this. It is another $100. If it saves me an hr a day that sure but if we're talking about 5 mins than I don't know.

Should I get more ram? Would using all 4 slots make a difference? I come from AMD and its very picky with ram. I was sticking to 2 sticks due to presumed OC limitations.

Is there a list of Quick Synch enabled programs? I doubt anything I'll be using will take advantage of it.

Again thanks all for the input.

NYC so shipping is going to be killer.

Eh I currently have a 212+ and haven't been impressed by it.

I'm still on the fence if I should try the h100.

Originally was planning the Arc Midi + H100 and still wobbling.

If I could find a decently priced mATX board I might still go with the Arc Mini + H100.

oy..for what you're going to be doing..2600k is better..(that's NOT trimming down) umm..Hdd prices are crazy lately..see if you can find some shop that doesn't know about the insane price jumps and score 1-2 umm..you could get away with a 64 gb ssd..cheaper case..no?..well..i got the z68 extreme3 gen3..for $124..at the egg..that'd be a little savings.. it's a solid board :: IF you use a videocard..it got kinda wonky when i tried to start a game with the integrated graphics..instant reboot like lack of vcore or something..i'm rambling..neway my OH ..you could go with a hyper 212+ cooler for $30 ..decent performance up to say..4.6 ghz? :: you already have one
