A second U2311H, or a U2312HM

Thread Starter
I've had my Dell U2311H for about a year now, and the display on my parent's iMac is dying. So I want to get them a new external display, then once the iMac dies. They will get get a new iMac and they will give me back the display.

What I am mostly concerned about is the color difference between my U2311H and a U2312HM. So I am thinking it might better to get another U2311H. But would the colors match with my older U2311H and a newer on?

I've known a few people who dislike different colours across two panels. You might as well grab the same panel.

You should just get the same monitor!

Dell U2311H is quickly running out of stock at least in my country and Dell is replacing them with U2312HM so soon you don't even get to choose.

There is a distinct difference in white shades since CCFL and LED produce different shades of light. Some may find the difference unbearable, but you can manage it with some calibration. Even the same model panels will have some variation so you won't be getting identical panels in any case. Personally I don't mind it too much, and I have three monitors with different panels, two IPS and a Glossy TN. With some calibration they look close enough unless you start scrutinizing the difference.
