No way that is needed... I know those prices are way too high.

I am envisioning the below estimated hardware should be fine for BF3 at low:

AMD Athlon/Phenom II X4 = $80
Mobo = $80
4GB RAM = $35
GPU???
Heatsink = $20

My bad, mixed this one up with another $600 build thread biggrin.gif. That looks good, then throw in a 68x0 and be done!

I have $100 worth of EVGA credit.... How is the GTX 550 Ti for BF3? With the credit, I can get it for $15.

If you have $100 in credit... go for a 560 or 560Ti... definitly.

I'm not sure how the 550 Ti does in BF3 but here's a compilation of most of the BF3 benchmarks.

Icrontic Benchmark

Might want to look here:

Toms benchmarked alot of cards on LOW and HIGH at 1680x1050.

That's marketing. It tells us nothing about CPU and memory.... nothing about different resolution/settings.... and it is only NVIDIA cards. wink.gif

there have been a lot of reports that you need more than 4 GB of ram to run BF3.. I personally don't notice because I have 16 but a lot of guys in the BF3 thread (none of which I have seen in here) have been complaining that with 4 and even 6 GB of ram they're running out of memory and crashing.

the game is a memory hog and its not a leak.

There are more people running it perfectly on 4 gigs then aren't. It's either a leak, or they need to lower a setting that causes it to use more memory (Maybe cards running out of Vram.)
