XPS m1710 & Nvidia Gforce 7900 GS

Thread Starter
I have an XPS M1710. Nvidia Gforce 7900 GS got replaced 3 times already although laptop not under warranty anymore, card is (settlement for defective cards from Nvidia). I notice on this last swap that temps on idle/sleep can go up to 55/60 C for CPU and upper 60's for GPU, and they only go down when returning to normal activity. Looks like the fans are not kicking in? Anyone with that problem? Average temps while in use (Photoshop/Firefox/etc) are around upper 40's for CPU and 50's for GPU.

Nothing wrong with those temps. My former laptop reached 70-80 under heavy load, didn't even sweat.

My current laptop's CPU reaches the 80's and doesn't blink...my GPU seems to have an overheating problem though (Game for 10-15 min, then it dies)

What is your current laptop? I have been wanting to upgrade the old XPS but it seems that a lot of laptops including the new Alienware have overheating problems. My problem is that I want to use it mostly for work (Adobe CS5/Video editing) but also for gaming...
