Wanting to Upgrade my CPU on the M2N MOBO.

Thread Starter
Ok so i am sitting here looking @ different CPUs etc for my M2N-SLI Delux MOBO.
I really don't have experience with Overclocking usually just got it working.. and
went with that....
Now it seems that the beta BIOS for the M2N mobo will allow AM3 chips? Should i just purchase an AM3 chip and go with that? it seems like it is pretty
buggy with the process. If anyone has any input please feel free I do have two computers with the M2N Mobos one delux one non delux so i can try on one and fail.. just go to the other one... NP @ all.

Thanks

That is a VERY old 570i SLi motherboard. It's like.. 5 years old.

No, certainly not. AM3 will never work on it.

According to ASUS website (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...I_Deluxe/#CPUS ) , this mobo supports AM3 CPUs up to Phenom II X4 945 with beta bios.

It is an old 570a,not 570i.
And it will run AM3 cpu's(AthlonII&PhenomII) up to and including the x4 945(with bios 5001) and has for a couple of years. And will run x4 955/65/70/75/80 with use of NVtools or PhenomMSRTweaker.
The M2N-sli non dlx will too.

@firenate,see this thread for more help if you need it http://www.overclock.net/amd-motherb...m2n32-sli.html

Good luck

@sergeym and Gyro

Yes that's exactly what i have been reading just was looking for confirmation on the
AMD Phenom II X4 980 BE 3.70 GHz
is there an Exact model # i should be looking for?
I don't see the 980 in the list of validated AM3s that have worked..
It is a 125w CPU which the MB will handle i would enjoy the 3.7 GHz

Thanks
I don't think the 980 will work, the max is the 945, but I had the m2n-sli as well a while back and ran a 955 which is the same as the 980 on it so you might get lucky. Just be ready with a fire hydrant and a few hundred dollars to buy a new motherboard.

Here is that they do work http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1763006

Granted it is a x4 975 but if it runs that it will run an x4 980.

The list on the 1st page of the club thread has not been updated in awhile, but there are lots of people running the X4 955up to the 980 on these boards.
But there is a workaround(NVtools or PhenomMSRtweaker) needed to get it running at full speed, but it is a simple fix and hundreds are using it.
And in the years people have been running these cpu's on these boards I have not heard or seen one MB failure.

LOL man Gyro I been trolling through these boards pretty hard core.. and it looks like you have the M2N answers..... i was able to boot into bios fully with the 5001 vrs but its odd. My keyboard sometimes works and some times not. It does see the CPU right as the 980. maybe i will dig up a PS2 keyboard I am trolling these boards alot. I havn't tried to boot into windows just yet.. wanted to get the post all good first. the question i have after i figure that out. I was reading Hitoriko/Big John44's guide.. but its for the m2n32 sli deluxe board. I can't seem to find one that would pertain to my m2n sli deluxe.

and thanks for your time

The procedure is the same for all M2N boards.

One thing that is missing from the guide is that you need windows power options set to performance,or it will only run at 800mhz.

Good luck
