qwk bench tonight.. daily user gets whipped

So.. entering the fan boy comp this month.. i wasnt happy enough with my current i7 CPU and results.. so I started poking at my daily user a bit [as i tend to do].

a look:

i5 660 ES -trade from Wumpus for a 655k
Asus MIII Gene, P55 [cbb mod only..unless you count LET ]
MSI TFIII PE/OC 6950 [all known mods..and then some]
2x2 Gskill Pi Black, F3-16000CL6
Antec HCG900w

Cooling = Swiftech CopperTop GTX, MCW60, PA120.3, Zalman Reserator [STHU i know what kind of metal it is], MCP355, 6x 130mm Rotrons @ 13.8v

little bclk ... little mobo

#2 - Ref clock submission for MIIIGene @ 262bclk
Uncore is running 1:1 with QPI too ...totally surprised me for water.

best 3D run of the night..*posted for 'fan boy comp' - Team RED
24.8k 3D'06

8.7sec 1mil @ 4.7ghz, 250bclk / 1000mhz cas7

..overall, nothing to get excited about. I am glad the mobo/cpu are good for +260bclk with this little tuning and no cold. So long as the CPU doesnt have a low CB with PLL adjustments.. could be a real fun 1x to freeze..got the bclk and multi for close to 6.3ghz ..pretty sure I can validate at 5ghz if I lower uncore..heck it may even have more bclk left. Either way.. I'd rather find out 'cold'!

sweet clocks for a i5 660, thats awesome for watercooling. you must have a good chip to run QPI that high. i would have thought that a i5 660 at almost 5ghz and a HD6950 would have got a higher score though.

The reason for the score not being higher is that the CPU test in 06 is multi-threaded, and it has a large impact on the score. If Clepto were to run this test on his i7 920 or a similar CPU the score would be much higher.

Also, very nice clocks Clepto!

tnx hobie.. you get another chance to put that 655k under the ice?

Will be nice to see if this CPU can bench 3D with 4.7-4.8ghz QPI [i run 4.6ghz qpi for daily use ]... gotta be a nice boost in the scores. Gonna wait for LN and then go cold with this again, to see where I get

cant wait to see what you can do with her on Ln2!

some might say that the IMC in that chip is better than some of the ones in the nehalems....lol

So far Im walled at 262bclk.. pretty sure its RAM subtimings affecting IMC latency though [too tight].. will try for higher once I can get the IMC to start playing "nice" with cas8 .. cuz its not havin it at all yet.

*can boot at much slower RAM speeds.. just change CL->8 and no post ...

Yeah, I put it under dry ice just last week, but I didn't accomplish much. I had a terrible mount and an uncooperative motherboard, so my results sucked.
