How to use Macro key on keyboard?

currently i am using Microsoft Sidewinder X4. Am i able to use the macro key in BF3?

Should be able to. Just go into the options > keyboard, and then when you click a key you want to change, press one of the macro keys and it should bind.

I don't know how. for example, i want to set knifing in one of the macro key. am i able to do that?

Like I said, you should be able to. I don't have BF3, so I can't directly tell you how to get to said setting. However, go into the Options > Keyboard / Binds > find "Knife" or "Melee", whatever it's labeled as. Once you've found it, you should be able to just click it which will then allow you to press a key, and the key you press will then be bound to knifing now.

So click knifing / melee, press the macro key, and if it worked... that key should now be bound to knifing.
