Grey lock up screen during Bf3

Recently, I have been experiencing issues while gaming with my sig rig.

I first started getting some lock up screens during Dead Island in the latter half of the game. I figured since this was a bug ridden game, it wasn't an issue on my end. I quit playing that and moved on to Space Marine which I put several dozen hours in without a single issue.

Once Bf3 came out, issues started again. Seemingly random, I get these Grey lock up screens forcing me to turn my rig off completely. It seems to have been occurring at the very least once a day.

Cpu is at stock speeds. Temps under load do not exceed mid 40s. The any suggestions?

It was just happening during Dead Island but only in the latter half of the game at certain spot so I figured it was the fault of that buggy game. The only driver update I performed was installing the Rage drivers. I experienced no issues while playing Rage.

Check for cpu bottleneck and check for gpu bottle neck to make sure thats not causing the problems

What are the temperatures of your graphics card? Grey screen lockups may be due to overheating GPU core or VRMs.

Can't remember off the top of my head. Will have to check later when I get home from work. Maybe manually setting the fan on high to keep the gpu cool would help since it doesn't ever seem to go above 40% fan speed under load.

What speed is the 6950 running at?

Install MSI Afterburner and set up your own fan profile.

It never seems to go above 40 % fan speed under load. I usually set a profile but have been forgetting lately. That's probably my problem. I'll have to go home and test later.
