Which is the quietest & coolest running performance card?

Which is the quietest & coolest running performance card? - is this an urban legend myth. I've just bought the MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk and it's a screamer and the temps are only approx. 64 celcius because i'm 100% undervolting and i'm also underclocking. i undervolt/underclock to lower my fan noise and the temps via MSI Afterburner. You should hear it on standard settings - it's like a mini Dyson/Hoover vacuum cleaner inside the PC . Every comment made about the card from forums has been that it's freakin noisy and the temps is a worry. I don't think the marketing dept. coordinated with the design team because on the box it says it should be 17 degrees cooler, 1.06 dba quieter than the reference GTX 560 Ti!

Can you recommend from your own real usage a capable but truly quiet (under load) card among the GTX 570, 580 and 590? The card will be running in a home environment with wife and kids sleeping so there's really no ambient noise - it's truly quiet so the card will have to be quieter otherwise it'll stand out.

The Asus GTX 570 Direct CU II is probably one of the quietest cards on the market.

I'm not sure, i'm only going by my own logic, which is probably flawed on so many levels you could play mario on it.
But if you want a quiet card, why not get a more powerful card and do the same level of things on it? Surely if you play a game on the same settings on a 560 and then a 580, the 580 wouldn't load as highly, so it'd be quieter. As far as graphics card brands are concerned I always found ASUS quite quiet, but that could just be luck of the draw. Good luck anyway.

Whichever one you put under water...

Also 64C is not HIGH.

You're good at the way up to about 90C for daily usage.

Couple of things you can do to help are:

1. Cable management. Cables get in the way of airflow, they can actually block air, or cause air turbulence which will inhibit your cards ability to suck it in.

2. Adjust your case air flow. Sometimes you can have too much, or not enough case flow. You want a good balance of air flow. Too much airflow will again inhibit the cards ability to draw clean air, and too little will stagnant the air causing increase temps.

The 560 Ti Hawk is overvolted and OC'd out of the box. Those temps really aren't so bad. Though I've heard the TF3 coolers do get a bit loud.

I haven't used a Tf3 card, but I've owned 3 TF2 cards and they've all been whisper quiet.

64C isn't even close to high (unless that is your idle temp... in that case, you should worry...).
Mod airflow, check cable management, etc.

Yeah, the TF3 coolers are a bit loud (I have a lightning). For silence, I think the ASUS DCUII line up beats the TF3's fairly often. Only downside to the Direct-CU is that is is a triple slot so you might want to consider that. I like having space so I decided to stick with a dual slot

Either one of the GTX 580 models with the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme are dead quiet (and quite powerful).

That Sparkle was only $424 a few days ago. Guess their automated inventory program felt it was time to jack up the price.

^ Hunk of crap... weak VRM, restrective block on a card that doesn't deserve the "Classified" name. If performance is sufficient, this is what you're looking for. IMO, over the last years it still one of the quietest/coolest and most efficient cards for it's performance. Even on stock cooling.

HAHA. Pass me what your smokin on. Those ati's are loud as hell with having only a half sized vent on the back. A reference 580 is no where near as loud as that card.
