I owned the regular overclocked msi 560ti 1gb twin frozr and it wasnt HORRIBLE, but slightly high pitched if it got warm (62c max) when I ran sli i heard them slightly as max temps would go to 68c on bf3 in a room that was 80-84F, in cooler 70F cards stayed low 60's-C

That said I just bought the asus gtx 570 dcII and thats quiet for sure! but when things do warm up its a low pitched hum compared to the high pitch of the msi card, usually low pitch hums are easier on the ear for me so I like it.

You can go water or..

buy a fan controller. I have the Twin FrozrII and it don't think it is loud at all. makes noise but not loud. I did find however that if my Fans are at 75% or Higher then my RIG is loud. other than that, get the Classified Hydro card, which is expensive plus you need to buy a radiator, pump, Tubing, etc.

Another thing i can think of is buying an after market Cooler like the Accelero Xtreme

Dude. Are you kidding me? Are you referring to the 5870 or the 69xx series? I'm not so sure about the 5870, but the 6970 fan is horrible.

The 6970 is incredibly loud at high fan speeds. Whats worse is that the reference design has a super loud whirring sound at high fan speeds, basically turning your 6970 into a dustbuster when the fan hits anything at 60% or higher.

I think this has to be a troll or something. The GTX 580 reference fan is NOT quiet by any means at high fan speeds, but it is quieter than the reference 68xx/69xx fan.

Who're you referring to? I was talking about the 5850 in that pic. Get it right please.
