[HWCanucks] Seagate Barracuda 3TB Review - Page 2

I can't see this drive being any less than $500 what with what's happening in Thailand.

The fact that my $80 WD Caviar Black 1TB is now $200 makes me sick.

Looks good, but how long till failure. Seagate drives aren't as reliable as they used to be.

Yeah, and that's fine. But then why did they list the $180 as a CON???

I use Seagate too. I've been building PC's for nearly 20 years, and can tell you that of all the HD manufacturers that still exist, Seagate is the most reliable, and most bang for the buck. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Seagate or with the new 3Tb drive, or with the $180 price.

I just want HC to make up their DAM minds!

Are they as quiet and reliable as the old Barracuda HDDs? These used to be staples in silent/near-silent PCs before SSDs were affordable.

Looks like I might get this with an SSD for the next build. I was going to raid 1TB WD blacks, but the speeds that Seagate provides and that price tag are enticing.

I would get one but Seagate...I've lost faith in them. Once they're solid again, I'll get them.

seconded.. in 2 years I had 3 HD failures with Seagate 500GB and 1TB drives.. I can't trust a company thats let the quality of their drives get so bad that they wont last a year on normal useage.

Especially considering how well I treat my hardware.
