need mems recommendation for 2600k

Thread Starter
i have an ok 2600k. i got it to 4.7 pretty, probably will end up at like 4.8ghz or so. i have a z68-ud4. i need to know what type of mems i should be shopping for.

currently using some 6-8-6-24-1t mushkins that run at 1600mhz. i would like to keep em but they are only 2x2gb sticks and i need 8 gigs and i can't find another 2 sticks of em anywhere.

so do i go for 2 4gb sticks with slower timings or 4 2bg sticks?

is the timings trade off to go to >2000mhz worth it?

I'm doing a lot of memory intensive stuff like photoshop and video editing.

any specific recommendations are highly appreciated.

thanks for the help.

I not sure if the timing will make a big of a difference in photoshop and video editing, but the more memory the better does... Im running 12GB @ 8-8-8-24 (I do video editing myself)

You can go with CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB

To be honest I think the difference between, say; 1600mhz @ 6-8-6-24 vs 1600mhz @ 8-8-8-24 vs 2000mhz @ 9-9-9-24 would be very small and you would find it hard pressed to notice any advantage/disadvantage of one against the other. You might see a few points difference if you were to benchmark them against each other but with normal usage I don't think its going to make much of a difference to the user what so ever.

I think your best bet would probably be to add another identical 2x2gb set of the Mushkins that you are currently running. I say this because a 4GB kit will be relatively cheap to buy and as they look to be pretty high end ram (judging by speeds and timings stated in OP), it will give you some headroom to play about with timings and speeds so you can experiment and see if you notice any improvements for yourself.
