[EGM]Battlefield 3 Lead Platform Switched to consoles mid-development - Page 15

That's probably why I can't change the mouse sensitivity for the vehicles. Way to sensitive when in the driver seat and the gunner... but the planes were luckily ok

If anyone has played the console and the PC versions, you would know it is still mainly for PC. I am pleased with the game so frankly I don't care what happens.

Explains a lot really...

The image quality doesn't warrant the gpu power required.

No tessellation.

Browser based launcher (pure hope on this one).

Probable memory leak, which again doesn't warrant the amount of detail present.

Laggy servers, but that could be something else... Could be optimization though.

I'm not even playing it very much, pretty let down by it. I know it will get better, but it just feels really unpolished.

...?

BF3 scales much better than most people thought it would. Old CPUs can max it fine, and while you need a lot of GPU power to "max", you can still make it look incredible with a mid-range card. Considering 64 players, giant maps, destructible environments, and HBAO, it runs pretty great.

How could "console is lead platform" possibly explain "browser-based launcher"? If anything it's the opposite. Lag is server stress, again not console related.
Memory leak is a problem, but hardly relevant to consoles.

Really though, I can't see where you got your conclusion from.

That's why the destruction not as good. Now it's much easier on the cpu so it can run better on consoles. It's semi hard on gpus but that is easy to dial up after you've made the game. Cpu utilization is a ground up kind of thing.

Bf3 is pretty great. Some people have a habit of nitpicking everything to bits. I am the first to call out a crappy game but BF3 overall is an amazing experience. The browser integration is terrible but once you get into the game it's as deep a wargame as you can get. If they fix the browser issues this will probably top out my best games of all time list which is based on subjective fun-factor.

Please, if anything the CPUs are the consoles' greatest cards to play. If it were a console port in any shape it would require ridiculous amounts of processing power.

.......

1: What demanding GPU power are you talking about? My rig does this crap at 60FPS average on stock GPU clocks dammit. For what is apparently the current generation Crysis, yeah it performs astoundingly.

2: This has not been proven.... at least to my knowledge. Fine there is no HEIGHTMAP BASED Tessellation, but there could be PN tessellation....

3: How does this prove that it is console like? Fine I hate it, but it has nothing to do with Consoles...

4: Well this has happened on every damn Battlefield game in existence, so don't go picking on BF3 by itself....

5:All servers, Xbox, PS3, and PC are having issues. This isn't just a PC thing.

And that is pretty much it....
