[EGM]Battlefield 3 Lead Platform Switched to consoles mid-development - Page 9

Not too much of a surprise. The final game doesn't look anywhere near as good as the pre-release footage, its just all got filters applied and whatnot, though it still looks good, I expected more.

Further more, are there even any DX11 features worth talking about? I barely noticed anything people were raving about.

That said it is a nice game, shame Origin just kills it for me.

With a single 570 I "can" run all ultra with 4x AA and 16x AF, HBAO, but there is some odd stuttering issue going on which seems to be from VRAM leak issues. If a single 570 can do that well, 2 560Tis can eat this game at 1080p.
No. 560's won't max the game 100% at 1080p with that CPU or with any cpu. I can max the game with my system (a hell of a lot faster than a Q6600) but the FPS are not constantly acceptable at all times.

*sigh*

I didn't need this article to know this tbh.

-Flag placement in conquest.

-Gun play revolving around who can control full auto fire the best as opposed to controlled bursts.

-Maps that were obviously designed for the console 32 player limit, just with increased player capacity for all of them.

-Lack of dependancy on teamwork.

Tbh though, my favourite maps in BF2/BF2142 were of the smaller, more infantry based kind (camp gibraltar + city maps/karkand).

As for the teamwork aspect, when you join a squad that knows what they're doing and share the same thirst for teamwork, all the tools are there gameplay wise (except for a proper command rose) and its brilliant. Using a MAV as your squads personal recon drone as they make their way around maps is pretty fun.

*que "in mw3 you call in the uav...in BF3, you ARE the UAV!!1!*

The majority of the time though, not so much. Hopefully people get better/more clued up about the game and start to play the game in its best light.

But yeah, for a game that was "pc lead", "console lead" is quite evident in many places.

Repeating yourself doesn't make it any less confusing, or any less ridiculously wrong. I could FRAPS me driving around Dragon Valley and it would take me the time to do one lap around that map, the same as how it would make me do two in Battlefield 3s Operation Firestorm.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Firestorm, but you're just loco in the head if you think these maps are anything comparable to Battlefield 2. Gulf of Oman was one of the medium/small maps in BF2, and it's at least twice the attack area of Noshahr Canals or Kharg Island.

Sharqi Peninsula is one of the more infantry based maps in BF2, and it dwarfs Caspian Border in attack area. The outer edges of flight only zones does not make a map. It means little to the actual objective based gameplay. It's like talking about off-screen real estate in an RTS. It's meaningless if it's not engaged by the game rules.

Agreed... No need to get into a pissing contest over what will run the game with Ultra settings there are alot of variables to consider..resolution, acceptable framerate, ect.

What i don't understand is that: Before this announcement everyone was happy with BF3, now that they have said it people are upset or pissed.

Origin stays out of my way. Battlelog works as it should (even if it sometimes forgets to update pings and players in game). The game runs beautifully. I have no complaints Wait. Except one. Fix the darn hit detection. More then once I'm unloading an entire clip into someone lying prone, to be taken down with a single piston shot.

I said dual 560Tis. Plenty are having stuttering issues (myself included) where I get 70+fps constantly, but an annoying random drop to 1-2fps that makes the game nearly unplayable. That's a VRAM leak.

CPU makes VERY little difference for this game. I'm getting a 2500k setup within a few days, and it probably won't net me much gain until I add my second 570.

Check out what a fellow OCNer shared with a single 570, 1920x1200, all Ultra, 16x AF, HBAO. He ran a 64 player benchmark and achieved a minimum of 40fps. I don't know what you consider "acceptable" but anything above 40 is the sweet spot to me.

My evga GTX 570 SC @ 850/1700/1990 on stock voltage at 1920x1200 resolution. Large FPS spikes indicate deaths and being stuck at menu screens while waiting for respawn countdown

By disabling Blur effect, I gained a few extra FPS. I hate how any AA looks, it makes the game too "soft" IMO so both options are turned off

All in all, im real pleased at how my overclocked eVGA GTX 570 is running BF3 at stock voltage! Kudos to eVGA for making a great card for the price/performance value!

I wouldn't have been able to tell it wasn't 100% built to the PC platform, I think BF3 is awesome, and I didn't want to wait any longer! It looks great, was released on time. No complaints here.
