need help ocing 1090t on ga-990fxa ud5

hi, im am fairly new to ocing but i've done some reading.
right now my 1090t is at 4.1ghz stable in prime95 for an hour. have not run the tests longer than that. i figure thats good enough, no crashes when gaming hardcore in bf3 metro2033 an crysis yet and it lasted 1hr in prime so...

my core temps at 4.1ghz in prime95 are 30c, "core temps". i think the cpu temp was around 37c-40c.

the vcore at 4.1ghz is at 1.5750 in the bios. but in CPU-Z when prime is running its at 1.5v lows, never going to 1.57v. but when i am for example in bf3 the voltage will go up to 1.6v, same with if i boot up and windows is loading up the desktop cpuz shows 1.6v then it backs back down to 1.35v-1.45v's range when idling.

dont get whats going on.

Gigabyte mobo's tend to get vdroop when underload which isn't necesarilly a bad thing and that may be what you're seeing. What I'd suggest is get your overclock stable at a lower voltage since 1.57v is getting pretty high for air cooling or water cooling for that matter. Download "Real Temp" to verify the core temp readouts.

make sure tubro core, C1E, cool and quiet and SVM are all disabled in the bios. Also set the voltage to manual in the bios at 1.475V any higher and you are going to kill your chip. 1.5v is the max voltage so I say 1.475 because LLC will push that voltage up under load. at 1.6v you are going to kill the chip in about a week. at 1.55v about a month. It looks like turbo is responsible for those massive voltage changes. Though what are you running for a cooler?

oh sorry forgot to give more info

i used coretemp for the temps, also on water cooling. 360rad+240rad

if i lower the voltage and the oc gets unstable, is it necessarily the voltage? because i have everything else on stock/auto. i only raised the multiplier cpu and up the voltage.

It's the motherboard.
The UD5 and 7 suffer from vdrop that can only be corrected with a hardware mod (if they can't patch it with a BIOS).
Revision 1.1 boards will get LLC from what I hear.
1.0 boards might not, in which case I will RMA my board.

So to sums thing up... We are crap out of luck until Gigabyte makes things right.
