Help with i7-2600 OC

Thread Starter
I just started oc'n my chip this morning. Currently I've seemed to nab 4.8ghz at 1.38v pretty stable. The issue I am having is when the computer goes into Idle stance the voltage moves to 1.4v at x16 multiplier... Why is this? More volts in an underclocked state?

Set the voltage to offset mode in the bios. This will allow it to actually undervolt at idle. Then just test with what offset you need to get the volts you want. Other miscellaneous things- set VRM frequency to fixed mode and 350, LLC to ultra high, and the two phase control things to extreme.

Thanks I'll test this out. EUFI is still weird to me

Ok Well now its forcing the voltage to 1.58. Any of those items I changed could move that?

That's way too high. Since you're in offset mode just set it lower using the - voltage until you get it where it should be. You can load up prime95 to test what load voltage is going to be.

Yeah, I was reading that 1.52 was intel suggested max. I think i have solved my issue, I've landed it stable at 4.8ghz, 1.4vcore, (1.2 idle @ 1.6ghz) After running prime for about 2 hours my hottest core hit 70c, the others are in the 59-65c range. Later I'm going to try to hit 5ghz on the same vcore. Using the offset.

If I can't hit 5ghz i'll see how far I can back down the vcore and stay stable.

This is underwater, on a custom loop I finished two days ago. How do the temps look?

How much rad do you have?

I'm looking to add another 6970 to my loop soon. I just upgraded to a 2600k yesterday and w/ my 6970 in the loop idling, i'm seeing max temps at 55C, 1.275 Vcore @ 4.6 Ghz rock stable in Prime.

I'm using an XSPC RX480 radiator and EK-Supreme HF block.

My 2600K @5GHz is stable at 1.45V, I wouldn't go past 1.5V if I were you.
1.5 is too much for 24/7, 1.45 is sweet spot imho.

I have the ex480 radiator. The CPU pre oc was not going over 50c on load. With my two 6970s under the same radiator. After 4 hours of bf3 the first gpu was at 39c the second one which is 42c
