So I've got an interview for a sales position at an electronics store. I'm thinkin they're gonna put me in the home theater department because during the phone interview they asked me to basically sell them a TV. So I'd like to learn as much about TV's as possible so I don't seem like an idiot. explanations of the basics and links to reading material would be greatly appreciated.
I've never worked at an electronics store or had to sell TVs, but I think you should definitely start with learning about the types of TVs available on the market today, as well as a little understanding of last generation types of TV. Nowadays, the TVs are LED backlight LCDs, and plasmas.

so far, the only thing I slightly disagree on is resolution
1024x768 is very obvious even at 8 feet away on a 42-47 inch display against 1080p IMO. And I have astigmatism and and have 90/150 left eye right eye in need of correction with glasses.
But a 1366x768 vs 1920x1080, I think it'd be hard to tell on regular seating disance
+rep.
