overclocking - good or extreme???

Thread Starter
My motherboard allows me to overclock automatically, but, here is the dilemma.

it gives me choice of 2 settings.

good or extreme????

i have not overclocked yet. will do it later this week. what is the difference???
does it affect my cpu life?
i have azza hurrican 2000 case with noctua nh-d14 cpu cooler.

i've read review and seen people hit 4.7 - 5.0 GHz with extreme settings - but no one ever writes about stability.

my computer is normally on for 12 hours on avg daily basis.

Good is a little overclock and extreme is a little more. To get full potential you need to overclock manually which will allow for a maximum overclock. Using the auto overclock you should be stable and fine. It won't really decrease lifetime unless you change voltages and it still doesn't effect it too much. Just make sure your temps are all good once you start messing with it.
When I first overclocked, I used the auto and was just fine with it. Stable and good temps. Your cooler should be fine too.
