did you ever investigate why it was doing this?
In the course of testing of both services, they would both connect periodically and perform a "sync" operation, but nothing was uploaded or downloaded. the only time they would is something was added to the "monitored" folders on the host machine, or something appeared on the remote folder, that wasn't uploaded by the host machine (as i tested this feature from several computers, i would sync files and folders from other machines, to see if they would effortlessly download to the machines connected. which they did btw).
Maybe there was a problem with the configuration you were using, or the folders being monitored, had another program that altered the files inside them (like autosaves on word doc's) that was changing the time stamps, which does force a sync to the remote. But both services from my test were virtually identical in how they operated, so I can't really comment on your issue with ubuntu one, without more information.
