Okay, I found some parts for you:

[$87.99] CPU :: Phenom II x2 965 BE (might get lucky with unlock)
[Free] Motherboard :: M5A78L-M LX Socket AM3+ 760G, w/ integrated graphics. Free when bundled with Phenom II BE cpu.
[$19.99] FDD :: USB Floppy Drive, motherboard doesn't have floppy drive controller.

That puts you at $116.89 after tax, which leaves you some room for the inflated HDDs. I'd hunt around. Since the news is fairly recent, you might be able to find an eBay store that listed their HDD before the price hike and grab one at a reasonable price. If you can get one at a reasonable price, that'd let you upgrade the CPU to a x4 970 or something.

The CPUs I listed are both boxed, so they come with a stock fan.

If you go this route, get the gigabyte 760g motherboard it has better vrms iirc than the free asus equivalent.

Compared to the 965 and free motherboard deal. My build costs less and comes with a guaranteed quad deneb, an aftermarket cooler, and better integrated graphics.

Something i just thought about is this, is it an IDE CD drive?

A lot of newer boards dont support IDE, so you will need a convertor or a new drive, the biostar board i linked supports IDE cable connectivity.

It however is not the best VRM setup, it may throttle at higher than stock voltages without additional cooling. Though this is true for all of the free motherboards from microcenter as well.

Even better, i bested my own build:

This floppy drive:$11 shipped with super saver

This 880g motherboard $55 shipped with IDE connection

This cooler $6.15 shipped
$72.15 for these three plus $50 x4 830 at microcenter = $122.15 shipped not including tax at microcenter. Leaves plenty of room for a nice HDD.

The M5A-LX is not going to play well with 125W Phenom IIs....
Actually, with a total lack of 125W processor support due to limited VRM design, it's not going to play at all.

im leaning towards this and a 50 dollar 500gb 7200 rpm hard drive from fry's...as they have free shipipng and its harder than i thought it would be to get an f3 1tb (all my orders keep getting cancelled =( )

Thank you for pointing that out. I completely missed that.

Looks good, and you save some money on tax with Amazon.
