love reading how ignorant the comments are at the end of the article.

My god. I wouldn't buy a chinese processor. World's bad as it is, no need to even have chinese processors.

When China ditches all the misery, population ripoff, massive contamination and counterfeiting stuff they have going on, I might.

As for now, I only buy Made in China when there is NO alternative.

only if they feel threatened prices will fall
doubt that's gonna happen...
just because there's competition around doesn't mean price will be affected

MIPS is an American company whose processors used to appear in SGI's supercomputers. Now they mainly sell IP for embedded and mobile platforms.

SGI Bought MIPS many years ago to make sure they had a hand in the processor development. They later sold them after almost killing them like they did Cray.

Umm... what? You really have no clue how things work.

China only needs to do it half as well and if they can do it at 1/10th the price, then they've won. After they radically underprice everyone (at a loss), factories elsewhere close and they start incrementally rising the prices back to normal because they've already won and everyone else had already given up.

America cannot compete with this tactic. Just look at all the industries that this has happened with that we no longer even have a share of.

As long as we can keep that(which we should considering Windows, Apple, and Google aren't going away anytime soon) we should be fine.
You make no sense.

Hopefully this type of competition will fuel some INVESTMENT into IBM, AMD, Nvidia, Via(?), etc# from the government... in a 'Cash on delivery' sorta way.
lol, wth? You're serious too. I don't even....

Just what I want, a CPU made in China with it tainted from the factory with all sorts of malicious code to ruin my day. No thanks Beijing.

wouldnt there be an easier way to ruin your day than by undertaking the massive project of building a super-computer?!

If the Chinese are one thing it's efficient. Your plans not nearly efficient enough to be Chinese.
