Under load it should stay under 62c. Ideally keep it around the 55c - 60c mark and your CPU will live a long and happy life thumb.gif

That's a very good idle temperature. Up to 45C idle is considered pretty good, loads should be less than 65C if I recall correctly.

It seems you got Phenom II x4 955 3.2GHz c2/c3 (it doesn't matter for temps) he had max temp of 62'C. Stay under 60'C to be safe.

Download a couple, as sometimes monitoring software can be a bit meh. HWMonitor is a good one, run it in the background while you Bench, or Game, or run Prime, whatever it is to get max temps, it shows, min, max and current values.

Also, idle temps are also dependant on your ambient room temperature, case air flow and the likes, not forgetting, hopefully you have Cool'n'Quiet disabled to get that temp.
I personally think that's a decent temp (with C'N'Q disabled), with the stock HSF. I idle at 24-27c with a room temperature of about 22c (Central heating is on) @3.5GHz (2.5 NB).

Like the others said, try not to let the load temp pass 60c (62 is correct, but allow room), under 55c is highly recommended.

I'm trying to think of lightweight ones, but I use a multitude of installed ones.
I have Rivatuner displaying temps on my G15, with Everest UE (now known as Aida64), and also Speedfan running (it creates .txt files logging of temps/voltages that you select. tongue.gif

Core Temp won't be suitable, as you don't want the Core readings, it's the CPU temp you want to use (TEMPIN0/1/2 in HWMonitor).

A Hyper 212+ will definitely help your temps drop. smile.gif

Ignore idle temps, and watch your "Core Temp" (any program that reads that value) under load. Keep core temp under 62C and 60C for extended periods. Your BIOS (and motherboard software) is reading the "Socket/CPU Temp" and is typically 7-10C higher than actual temp. See my guide for more information.
