Same reason I got rid of my filco. I also didn't like the mushy feel of black switches. Haven't tried reds, but I'm a fan of browns and blues.

Im not so concerned about it not being FULLY mechanical as long as the main part of the keyboard is. I need a good back lit board since it would help me alittle bit and I know my wife wants a back light for when she wants to play games at night. so my choices are pretty limited.

Also I guess this is personal curiosity, but why do you think a tactile bump is bad for gaming?
I just came to that conclusion from what I have read online, I wish i could try it out.... but i have no stores that carry mechanical keyboard for me to try .

Should be paying attention more to the screen than the keyboard when gaming. Plus gaming in the dark will mess up your eyes! Get yourself a small desk lamp.

Ratjack, on what other people say about the tactile bump being bad for gaming here's my opinion:
That is a load of crackpot

Whether you feel comfortable with gaming on a board pretty much comes down to personal preference, including:

Touch typist or someone who bottoms out a lot
Like your switches heavy or light
(For mech kb's) how much noise a kb makes.

People just say they don't like the tactile bump I guess because when you're playing FPS's and the like, you're going to bottom out anyways, so the tactile bump might just feel weird.

Best to just find a place with a good return policy and try switches until you find one you and your significant other can enjoy. Otherwise, I'd say consider the other switches as well = )

People on this forum always say that you should be looking at the screen and not the keyboard but sometimes when i take my hand off the keyboard for a second it takes more effort to find the wasd keys again without any back light. And the whole gaming in the dark will mess up your eyes is a myth, the only truth to that is that your eyes can become more tired from having to take in so much light in a dark room.

We have no local store to really try the switches out. My only options would be to order a Thermaltake Meka G1 from wal mart to try blacks and I would have to order a red switch board from amazon and eat the cost of shipping back to them.

ugh... someone needs to open up a store that sells mechanical keyboards.
