I love my Asus 6950 and have it flashed to a 6970, i run it at stock 6970 volts with the settings in my sig rig 24/7. And yes it is fully unlocked with 1536 shaders. One other thing, i never break 65c.

If you live near a MicroCenter or TigerDirect/CompUSA (should check to see if there is one within your location), they might have the reference Diamond HD6950 2GB in stock. I had purchased mine (in the sig) a few days ago from TigerDirect and had unlocked it with ease biggrin.gif

I say MSI Twin Frozr III. They have a high unlock rate and overclock very well, not to mention that the Twin Frozr III cooler is amazing.

I have mine with 6970 shaders @ 900mhz at the stock 1.1v. Under full load temps never go above 65C with the fan at auto. Basically a 6970+ with significantly better cooling and cost me $80 less at the time.

Yes I am lol. I am now stuck between the MSI TFIII and the Sapphire Toxic. The toxic is more expensive where I live so I really can't decide.

Best BRAND of HD-6950's ... would be SAPPHIRE ... they offer something for EVERYONE at every price point, have the FASTEST out of the Box HD-6950 in the TOXIC edition, have the only 6950 that allows 3 monitors w/o one of them neeeding to be an expensive Displayport Monitor, and or use of expensive adapters in the FLEX edition, and are generally just all around great cards. MSI and ASUS would have to round out the TOP THREE. PowerColor, HIS, XFX, Gigabyte, VisionTek, Diamond etc. round out the remaining brands.

As for Which specific HD-6950 CARD'S are the BEST which is what I'm guessing the OP really wanted to know ... well then while I'm sure you'll get some debate, but ...

- Sapphire HD-6950 TOXIC Edition
- MSI Power Edition/OC TwinFrozrIII 2GB Edition
- Sapphire HD-6950 DIRT3 Edition
- Asus EAH6950 DCUII/2DI4S/2GD5 edition
- PowerColor Model #AX6950 2GBD5-P22DHG & Model #AX6950 2GBD5-P22DH ++PCS editions
- HIS 6950 IceQ X Turbo X 2GB model #H695QNX2G2M
THE REST = XFX, Diamond, VTX, VisionTek, Gigabyte and ALL Other HIS, PowerColor, MSI, ASUS, Sapphire cards wink.gif

They are BOTH GREAT CARDS ... you CAN'T GO WRONG getting either to be honest, if the MSI is cheaper where you are I'd get it {can you post the LINK where you were buying it from btw ?}, and I'm the BIGGEST TOXIC Fan Boy on this Site biggrin.gif as I started the TOXIC Club wink.gif ... but just know OF the 2 cards, the TOXIC has a bit better rate of successfully reported unlocks, you'll see about 66-75% from TOXIC cards, and about 50-66% from the MSI 2GB (do NOT buy the 1GB version!) PE/OC TwinFrozrIII ... though of course the usually disclaimer no unlock is 100% guaranteed and you do so at your own risk. wink.gif but BOTH come with the DUAL BIOS, so there's really very little risk of messing up your card too bad unless you're a total moron. biggrin.gif

There both realy good cards, if price is a bit of an issue, choose the one that fits your pocket book, you will have chosen a good one either way.
