Seriously worrying problem with my PC

Up until a couple of days ago my computer had been running fine, no notable problems. However suddenly something isnt right. Yesterday I removed a HDD from my PC which was only used for storing mp3's and videos. I transferring all this stuff to another HDD and removed it.

Since I did this my computer takes a lot longer to boot, when I press the power button nothing happens for several minutes, then eventually it starts as normal. Now this is a little annoying and worrying in itself, but I just went to run Battlefield 3 and after around 20 seconds in game my comp just completely froze up, ctrl, alt, del wouldnt do anything, it was just stuck.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I tried plugging the HDD back in but its still the same, im worried to try the game again incase it makes it worse.

I said I tried that in my OP

Im starting to think a specific map in the game caused my PC to crash, the crash I mentioned in my OP happened on 'Tehran Highway', I just had a game on 'Grand Bazaar' with no problems, the map changed to Tehran Highway and as soon as it loaded my PC crashed again, this time I just got a black screen.

Having said that when my PC rebooted the 'chkdisk' program ran and did a big scan and fix on my HDD's, found quite a lot of errors. Maybe the problem was down to the HDD's, will have to play some more and see what happens.
