I need a headset suggestion

Thread Starter
I'm looking to upgrade my current gaming headset.

I've had my eyes on the SteelSeries Siberia V2 ([ame="http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Siberia-Full-Size-Gaming-Headset/dp/B002Q8IHDQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320200841&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: SteelSeries Siberia V2 Full-Size Gaming Headset (White): Electronics[/ame]) after seeing someone use them at a LAN tournament.
Do any of you have any experience with this headset?

Are there any other suggestions?

I'm mainly looking to get a new headset because the ones I have right now (Plantronics .Audio 355: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Audio-355-Multimedia-Headset/dp/B001J30FZM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320200973&sr=1-2-fkmr0"]Amazon.com: Plantronics .Audio 355 Multimedia Headset: Electronics[/ame]) don't have big enough cover and can bug my ears after a long session and they get pretty hot too.

So what suggestions do you guys have?

Thanks for the input, but there's a reason I didn't post in a the audiophile section. I'm looking for a headset, not headphones.

What's the difference?

You get audio both ways, except with the HD555's, it won't sound like Shiz.

Oops, you weren't supposed to see that image, I felt rude so I edited my post.

But, I'm looking for a gaming headset (the prefix of "gaming" more or less doesn't matter), but the difference between a headset and headphones is that the former usually has a microphone to use whilst gaming online.

Get real headphones and buy a zalman clip on mic.

A lot of members on here feel as though, the headsets are Junk, sound like junk, and should be burned for their sins, because they don't have a decent sound stage or muddy this or muddy that. But haven't heard all of the products they are saying are bad.

I ended up with the Steelseries Siberia V2. I didn't want to pay $140+ for a headset and a mic.

they should be arriving today. Hopefully, I will get to use them tonight, and I can report back to you tomorrow. No internet at my house though because of the storm we had up here over the weekend.

If you go to the computer audio forum, Simca has generated a pretty nice thread on audio equipment, but again, all of it will recommend separate headset and mic, some of it at extreme prices, others at fairly reasonable prices. It's worth a read before making your decision, at the least.

One headset that is mentioned, but not recommended by author, because it is a headset is the Sennheiser (sp?) PC 350 and PC 360 headsets, but they come at a heavy price tag. But they are made by a company with a reputation for making quality products.

here is a link: http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards-computer-audio/1014902-most-commonly-recommended-audio-products.html

I don't consider myself an audiophile, and honestly, I can't recommend anything just yet, I have been using a creative fatal1ty headset for a while without much issue, not the greatest but far from the worst.

I will do my best to report back on the siberia V2 for you though.

Also, apparently Steeleries has significant coupon codes pretty regularly, it may be worth it to look for one and buy the siberias if you choose them directly from steelseries.

just an FYI

Hope this helped in some way.

I just got these last friday, I like Asus for one and customer service from them. So far they have been great everything sounds great and most of all...they are beyond comfy... so comfy...
Also they block out the sounds around you so much, feels odd when talking to people on the mic and you cant hear yourself. tongue.gif
