Noob Question but...

Do sound cards effect the front port?

The chord for my headphones is only long enough to reach the front of my computer. Will sound cards effect the front panel or do i need to buy and extension?

Thank you,

Axenfella

Some cards have a front panel connector, that's what you want to look for when determining this. For example, the Asus Xonar STX has one so it does go straight to the front panel

I think so, if you disable the integrated sound and turn on dedicated.

The front ports will carry sound from the onboard audio unless the sound card has a plug for the front audio ports on it. (most do not)

Oh sorry forgot to specify,
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium HD PCI-E

Sounds good so far, still applies to x-fi?

The HD has a front panel connector on top of the card. Instead of using your front panel header on the mobo, connect your case front panel sound connector to your sound card
