Oye..you got the headache spot on.

I THINK I FOUND YOUR ANSWER ! wink.gif

Fry's is HORRIBLE about re-shrink-wrapping previously returned items and trying to sell them off as New ... they're suppose to be labeled and discounted as such, but I've seen and received otherwise from them sniper.gif. I'm going to take a Stab in the Dark and say someone previously had your card and tried an un-successful FLASH on it and then returned it to FRY's. I'd take it back and get another one. It's not YOU or the BRAND or MODEL of card ... you just got the lemon of the bunch. Don't give up, an Unlocked and Overclocked HD6950 can butt heads with a stock GTX-580 let alone a 570 and like you said at MUCH less the investment. Don't give up on it YET. smile.gif

$300.00 !!! WOW is MICROCENTER RIPPING YOU OFF ... but yeah the Sapphire 2GB HD6950 DIRT3 Edition would be a decent replacement, especially if what you got wasn't actually the MSI 2GB Power Edition / OC TwinFrozrIII edition card (NewEgg LINK), and I'm thinking you got a different model for some reason, one is that I don't think FRY's sells THAT particular MSI card ? Frys I think ONLY carries the TwinFrozrII card (Fry's LINK)

But you can do better than $300 for the DIRT3 card ... hell for $270 after MIR you can get the Sapphire TOXIC Edition @ NewEgg (LINK), My PERSONAL FAV tongue.gif
or the Sapphire DIRT3 Edition @ NewEgg is only $245 (LINK)

I'd take a minute and evaluate what you actually GOT, but in the end take THAT card back to FRY's and get your money back, and consider getting either the TOXIC, DIRT3, or the Real TwinFrozrIII PE/OC edition card from NewEgg wink.gif that's my advice !

One last shot before you return the card. I don't see anywhere here the mention of using Afterburner, but I am guessing you are. If so, select "reset" and uninstall Afterburner and select "no" to keep settings.

Open GPU-Z under sensor tab watch the core/memory clocks and voltage, are any of them fluctuating during game play?

LA Kings Fan, I took your advice and returned it. I've since gotten this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102945

And Im having the exact same issue.

I'm a little beside myself with this one - I have no idea what to do at this point.

Really ? gremlins maybe ?

Wow ... well ok then, time to take a deep breath and start from the basic beginings all over again ... are you SURE you safely and properly removed ALL former nVidia drivers ?

Follow this guide ... http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers-overclocking-software/651378-how-install-drivers-use-driver-sweeper.html

You can't just delete them from File Management, WinExplorer or Add/remove Programs, et all ... but you knew that smile.gif

Safe mode reboot and run Driver Sweeper for any leftover Nvidia stuff? Well at this point, you'd also have to remove any ATI drivers as well, just to be safe.

I ran through that guide, saw a crap ton of nvidia driver info still in the registry via driver sweeper, cleaned it all out, rebooted, updated the driver, rebooted and STILL get the same thing.

I'm at a loss for words. What is wrong? Everything is squeaky clean...I'm extremely exhausted over this. I dont know what to do.

Can it be a power issue?? I ran the 560 Ti just fine with what I have. I know its not the best, but its always taken care of me - is the 6950 that much more demanding?

Wow. Your pcie slot hates you. lol. In the future simply uninstalling the driver will work better. Using driver sweeper and the like have caused problems before. When I went from 5770->6950 I didn't even uninstall the drivers. forgot rolleyes.gif

Start over. RUn a different card (the 560) with generic drivers. delete all drivers by uninstalling them. (if windows updates auto installs amd drivers, disable it). Turn off pc and unplug. PRESS POWER BUTTON. Plug in card, plug the power wires into the card. plug pc back in. turn on pc. If it loads generic drivers with bad resolution, good. Go get the driver ONLY from AMD and run in admin mode. Restart immediately after. Reboot. Hope for success.

EDIT: Link us to your PSU.

EDIT: Try running your cpu at stock clocks and see if the problem persists...

Here's the PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153140

And as far as stock clocks, lets say I set them back to 3.3 - if it ran better, what would that mean? I cant OC my CPU? Pfft..Id just go back to Nvidia if that were the case. I've done everything you said above in my mid-GPU phase when i had the MSI out to be returned. I put the 560 back in, and it was as smooth as butter. Uninstalled, stuck the new guy in when I got home and bam..same issue with the Sapphire as with the MSI.

Oye. Not enough beer...
