Overclocking bios settings

Thread Starter
Just bought a 1090T Black Edition and was wondering what the best settings to overclock the cpu.

Here's a little info. about my computer:

msi ms-7641 motherboard
500w psu
American Megatrends v17.3 bios
stock cpu heatsink/fan

or if you could point in the direction on how I can get started to overclocking my cpu (threads/posts/guides)

Do not overclock with that motherboard! Don't even run that processor!

It's only designed for 95W. It has a very high failure rate, 3+1 power phase with no VRM heatsink.

I already install the cpu and motherboard.. seems to work fine. I don't mind not overclocking. Should I just leave it with default settings?

The 1055T 95W version is the highest CPU that can safely run on that board - no overclock. And I say "safely" like it's safe to play in the street blind-folded while playing Russian roulette. With your 1090T 125W it's a failure waiting to happen - even at stock settings.

I guess I will have to return everything. I knew I was doing something wrong when I bought this mobo. The salesperson told me "FX" and "eight core", I immediately bought it without doing a little research first. Thanks a lot for the info. Any other tips you can give me before I buy another motherboard. Im looking for a mobo. that supports phenom ii x6 1090t and possibly a FX cpu later on in the future.

Your welcome.

What's your budget? Around the same price or slightly higher?

Same budget. I will stick with the 1090T. Which leaves about $80 for a mobo. any suggestions?

Shoot for something like the ASUS M5A97. It's around $100 AM3+ that supports FX also. Best I can do off the top of my head - and on my phone.

Here's a good deal if you don't mind open box buys. It's the Evo version of the same board with more phases (better overclocking/cooling) for $90

I'm sure our "deal hunters" will chime in later today and give you some better ideas.
