Is my cooling sufficient for Evga Gtx 580 SC

post #1 of 9

Hello,

I am building a gaming rig. I already bought a case and im planning to buy EVGA gtx 580 SC.

Ive read forums that this high end video card is pretty hot. I am however only relying on air cooling. DO you think i will be fine with my case. Details below.

CM HAF 912 Advance Mid Tower
Front - 200mm LED Fan (stock)(intake)
Top - 200mm Fan (stock)(exhaust)
Back - 120mm Fan (stock)(exhaust)
Side - 140 or 120mm Fan. (intake)

Note: Side fan is not stock since its not included yet. Im thinking of buying CoolerMaster brand.

My cpu is 2500k on stock fan too. and also im not in SLI. Single card only.

If anyone has the same setup as me, how hot would you think the evga gtx 580 can get.

FYI : Ambient temps in my country are around 30 C.

Thanks in advance

youll be fine just make sure there is fresh air getting to the card... and i would recommend this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835608017 its a great fan lots of air and very low noise... if you dont mind some noise http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835146010 you can turn the second down a biit but meh its not to bad

@darksoul
- i think im not going to OC for now. Thanks

@onions
Thanks for the reply and the fan suggestions. Good thing is the noctua fan is available in my country.

You think its ok even if i don't replace the existing stock fans?
post #5 of 9
yes those fans arent to bad if your not oc then your def ok but seeing as you got the k seris cpu y not grab a hyper 212 and oc it a bit maybe 4.5 ish nto to much

yeah maybe you are right. i'll consider buying the hyper 212. Hopefully, my budget still permits.

Actually I am more concerned about the temperature of the video card. You think, in this setup if I have the Noctua as side fan, what max temperatures will I have under load.

I would like the video card to stay under 75C under load. DO you think thats possible?
