you already have a 570, even if you go for sheer performance, it make sense to stick with a gpu you have, financial sense that is. And I'm an AMD user.

You better upgrade that monitor before though, atleast eyefinity or 1600p, otherwise it is the biggest waste having anything more than a 570/580 sli 6950/6970 cfx.

these are a few 580 tri sli vs 6970 tri scaling and performance threads:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/05/03/nvidia_3way_sli_amd_trifire_redux/3
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4254/triplegpu-performance-multigpu-scaling-part1/4
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crossfire-sli-3-way-scaling,2865-10.html

last is 6950 vs 570 tri.

I would guess that 3x6970s would be more powerful than 3x570s as tri-fire 6970s is close to tri-SLI 580s. However, both the 6990+6970 and the 570 tri-SLI setup would be very close to one another. Since you already have a 570, personally, I'd go with three 570s.

If money is no concern, then 6990 + 6970 as it should be slightly more powerful and would only occupy two slots.

you have no idea how retardedly overkill it is. Your monitor is an HDTV, it uses interpolation I believe, not even sure if its a true 120hz monitor, even then it is overkill

Lesson: get a better monitor that isn't an hdtv

Stick with single crossfire or sli if you don't

and if funds are not an issue, sell that phenom and mobo, some games aren't cpu bottlenecked, some are:
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/member-reviews/39646-amd-6970-crossfire-review.html

thats with a quad core overclocked phenom. Games like BF3 don't but others do. depends what you play

if you do stick with that atrocious tv as a standin for a monitor:
spend the money to go sandy bridge or Sandy Bridge Extreme, water cool (it really isn't hard or that much maintenance, and if you leak test it the first time, there is very very very small chance of leakage), water cool and sli gpus, maybe upgrade you case, get a better sound system, get a mechanical keyboard if you don't already have one, get some overclocking ram, like supertalent chromes.

exactly.

One more thing OP, check your montiors res: if it is HD, then all good, if its like a lot of hdtvs and 720p, then I'd say don't even think of upgrading.

Honestly there are many more things you could upgrade than just your graphics, since your screen really doesn't demand all that much.

Have you ever used an IPS panel?
Look it up on wikipedia and tftcentral.co.uk

Ever since I started using an IPS panel, I can never go back down to anything less than it.
I have various TN panels lying about the house, an HP w1907, Samsung 223bw, Samsung a25, Viewsonic led HD, multiple HDTVs, and I won't go near any of them because of my current monitor.

I suggest if money is no option you look at either the HP zr2740w, HP ZR30w, u2711h from dell, dell w3007 wfpHC, HP lp3075, Dell u3011h, Apple cinema display, some NECs, and I believe a few planars.

as for the screen this is my current one

http://http://www.sony-asia.com/productcategory/tvp-lcd-nx720-series#TVP+LCD+NX720+Series

oh yeah i am just upgrading slowly Corsair Dominator GT,OCZ vertex 3 SSD ,silverstone strider 1000w PSU will be arriving soon...my PC is only 2 months old so i am not looking for a cpu nd MB upgrade may be next year if AMD does something good to the next batch of BD or otherwise SB-E

the reason i want to go for gpu first is just because they r the Xpensive components right now.... all other components will not be a big factor

Look at the other post I made about bottlenecks.

Also new gpus will release in 2 months, not a great time for purchasing a gpu.
As for other upgrades you should look into:

Psu: Antec HCP, seasonic or Corsair AX series 750 for 6970 crossfire, 850 for gtx 580 sli
More than that? seasonic 1000w platinum, or antec HCP 1200 or Corsair AX1200

SSD: crucial M4 256gb

Screen: Ehatever 1600p IPS panel you can purchase

Gpu: wait for next gen, purchase 7970 cfx or 680 sli

Cooling: water cooling full system

RAM: super talent Chromes, or corsair dominator hypers

CPU: (for future) IVY bridge

Mobo: IVY bridge

Keyboard: Learn about mechanical keyboard if you don't already know about them. OCN has a great thread about it, first one when you google mechanical keyboard

Proper sound system if you listen to music

Since you already own a GTX 570 - the most practical choice would be get a second. I have a feeling you'll find it's going to be more than enough to push your monitor and give you more than enough FPS.

When gaming starts to catch up and your no longer pushing 60 FPS, you can tri-SLI them.

The question which is more powerful isn't going to make a difference when either is doing the job more than enough.

Once committed to any card, the best choice is to SLI/Crossfire the one you already have. Unless your just wanting to switch brands completely regardless of monetary loss.

That's my 2cents.gif on this and seems to be the concensus from those more level headed. smile.gif
