Thread Starter
Hey overclockers (:

Couldn't see a General Discussion Table if there is one damn I'm blind.
My old monitor just died(had it for a year!!) and i decided it is time for a new computer+screen(s). Im one 10" screen atm lol & it sucks!!
I wanted to know if you guys can help me out for a build, pretty much my first.
I will have a $1500 budget willing to go up to 2k if it's worth it.
What i was looking for:
CPU Doesn't matter, more bang for the buck!!
GPU nVidia Preferred/Maybe SLI???
1 SSD and HDD
A monitor/maybe 2??
I'm looking for a All black Theme no leds
Be able to play BF3,Crysis & mW3 on high/max if possible.

That's all i can think of i hope you guys help me out
Will post pics when done :> Plan to buy everything before the end of this month Wish me luck at work and that i get a raise or half a months worth in a week

Hey thanks alot for the responses really appreciate it!
From what you guys posted i was able to sum this up(can't beat amazon 4 Dollar Overnight shipping!)

Turns out at $1,692.46 Shipping included
I got a question what is better the i7 2600k or the 2500k what i mean by better i mean what the main difference can i just OC the 2500k and would it be better than or same as the 2600k?
I can get rid of the SSD if the i7 really makes a huge difference when it comes to gaming and vid editing.

Everything looks good EXCEPT, I'd recommend you get some faster memory with tighter timings and get a bigger SSD (at least 128GB). The RAM would cost you $30 more tops, but I think an a Crucial m4 128GB would be a $100 premium. So it's up to you but in my opinion, living off a 64GB SSD will be a bit tough.

Not interested in z68 ssd caching?

Also the 2600k only adds HT. Which is often a negative impact on gaming, and only useful for extremely high threaded applications.

Not a fan of the zalman coolers, for that money get a thermaltake Frio.

  • Just get an SSD. Like a 120GB one for now. Then in 6 months, get a 1TB+ for data. Spending $200 on a 1TB HDD is insane.
  • Replace the GTX 570 with a HD 6870 or maybe two if you want.

Single card benches: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-590-review/18

Dual 6870 benches: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...firex-review/7

They can be had for $150 - 170. So even at $170, getting two of them saves you $20 and you get way more performance.

  • Replace that CPU heatsink with either a Corsair H5/6/80 or Cooler Master Hyper 212+ EVO.
  • Replace that M4 with an OCZ Agility 3 for $175. The M4 has been so popular because of the Sandforce controller issues, but now they're fixed.
  • Swap out that PSU for the SILVERSTONE ST75F-P or KINGWIN KX-1000 1000W on Newegg. Yea, the 1000w is uneeded, but it's a great PSU at an even greater price. Both are modular.
Personally, I would just shop on Newegg. Prices are going to be cheaper and customer support is better/easier.

Wud? a 1Tb for 200 dollars, Dude, skip that, seriously, just live off the M4 for now. Is that the real price? If so, you can get another M4 for that price. I am sooo glad I got the HDD for my silent build a week before the price hikes.

Apart from that, skip the Zalman cooler, get a Frio.

I would also get the Asus P8P67, or Asrock Extreme4 as the Evga seems to have Sandwich config for SLI, which is unacceptable and is a bit too expensive for what I'd pay for.

And I agree with nothing Pluhhmm has mantioned, except for the SSD & heatsink part tbh. But this is trictly my opinion.

I would stick to a single GTX 570, more upgradeability in the future, more Vram than a single 6870, even if it is slightly. And most importantly, no CFX/SLI issues.

The M4 is a reliable SSD that has been tried and tested by many many people everywhere and on OCN. The Sandforce situations has improved, but there are still cases of BSODs and problems. I would wait a few more months until people are assured that these controllers are settled and repaired, and the poor batch has been thoroughly cleansed out before getting 1.

Do not get a 1000W, really no point, even if you are going 2 way SLI. A 750W/850W is all you need for 2 way and a giant OC on everything. paying so much more for something you will never use is daft.
