Power Issues?

Thread Starter
I went to power up my system with my newly installed AX1200 (which has been working fine over the last week) and when I went to start playing Battlefield 3, my computer shut off. I thought it just crashed, so I booted back up, and same thing. Then it would not turn on. Fearful, I hit google to see what could be causing the issue. After frantically reading through some forums, I saw a suggestion to try to unplug the power cord, and hold in the button for 15 seconds, and voila! My only concern is, could this be an indication of a bad supply, improper installation, or something else entirely. My CPU is not overheating, and neither are my graphics cards.

Another question I had, all 4 of the available slots on the PSU labeled "PCI/PC4" (12v Rail?) were taken up to supply 2 8-Pin PCI-E connectors, 1 6-Pin PCI-E connector, and 1 PC 4-Pin connector. The 5th connector comes from the rail directly below these ports. Did I do something wrong here?

Also, before installing this PSU, I was getting 120fps average on Battlefield 3 SP, which is now down to around and average of 95-100fps. So I have a feeling I plugged someething in wrong.

TL;DR
Is there anything wrong with my beloved rig?

Check the PSU manual for setting. Also, it has to be asked, are you Overclocked or Stock ? Not that I am saying that is an issue but its good to know before trying to problem solve.

You do have 2x 8Pin PCI-E and 2x 6Pin PCI-E going to your GPU's?

Sorry, let me clarify. I have 2 PCI-E 8-Pins, one to each card, and 2 PCI-E 6-Pins, one to each card. And my MB has a 4-Pin CPU connector. Everything is at stock speeds, except the RAM which is set to 1600 in the XMP. The 5th connector is on a different rail, and it is powering GC #2. Was just curious if that lower rail was for something else or not. I just ran BF3 for about 3hrs, and not a hiccup. I have, occasionally, been having the game crash. It locks up and I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game and then load it back up. After 3 hours of gaming, CPU temps reached a max of 53C. Average about 45.

And sadly, for the first time ever (always been a Corsair man), my manual wasn't all that helpful. No diagrams of where the plug in what and all that. Thinking maybe I don't have that extra 6-Pin on the 12v rail.

That sounds correct to me. Google your PSU for any issues others may have had, you may come across similarities and you may also find a resolution or if there is a fundamental issue with the PSU. Worth a go.

Sorry for asking, it might seem silly, but are you sure that your plug does not have issues? Have you tried with other power-demanding devices? I know Ihad an issue with my washing machine, probleme came from electricity in my appartment. Had to call an electrician to repair my messy plug.

I'm renting the upstairs out from my cousin, and every outlet sucks. I guess that could be an issue, as I've had that problem before with an older rig. May just have to try that
