Im a little crushed right now

Thread Starter
OK long story here.

I have the following as my current system

PSU - Trust 600Watt
MB - ASUS M4N78
CPU - Athlon 64 x2 6000+
GPU - GTX275
Generic HDD
Generic DVD/CD RW
Mixed ram - 2g corsiar and 2g Kingston

This system is perfectly stable and has served me well for years with no issues.

Now I am planning on upgrading to this....

PSU - Trust 600Watt (from current system)
MB - Sabertooth 990FX
CPU - Pheanom ii x4 955
GPU - GTX275
Ram - Corsair XMS3 1600 DDR3 (2x4g)
HDD and DVD/CD are from old system.
Freezer 13 PRO

Now I have all this I put it all together but I kept getting bluescreens, I knew what that ment bad memory, So I ran memtest to track down the bad stick.

But now I have a new issue the computer randomly goes into restart loops and I have to switch it off compleatly for about 2-3min before I can boot it back into windows.

I get no errors at all its as though someone hit the reset switch.

I ran Prime95 large file tourcher test for an hour and a half, (5 passes) With no issues temps were at 58 degrees and got no errors.

Ran a burn in test for the graphics card, 92 degrees ran for 15min with no problems (little warm for my taste)

So things I have tested.

Ram with memtest (ram also has correct voltage/timings)
CPU with Prime95
GPU with Burn in test

I am at a loss as to why its randomly rebooting and getting stuck, One thing I did notice though was this motherboard has lights next to each of the vital components, When it jams on the reboot cycle the red light next to the graphics stays lit. (I have no case speaker so can't hear bleeps).

Could this be somthing to do with the psu having too much draw on it due to new ram/cpu and MB.

Input is appiciated.

Never heard of the brand, dont trust the manufacturer either. Have a look at the Power Supply Calculator; get the right size power supply that it recommends.

Krogoth is on the right track, the PSU sounds like its not coping with the load and shutting itself off. Not sure about the US, but in Europe, Trust make cheap peripherals. I'd swap out your PSU for a reputable brand, a 450-550 would be perfect.

Where abouts are you based and we can help you pick something up ?

Hrm.. Trust... a cheap PSU indeed. I'd look to swapping that out as soon as. The rating is about right, but the quality of that unit is not up to the task.

Edit: Go look at the prices for a low end Corsair, Antec or other recommended unit in the 400-650w range.

I was hoping it wasnt the power supply but I guess I can't put it off.

is this any good

http://www.ebuyer.com/279545-corsair...-cp-9020003-uk

Bit more than I need right now, but I didnt get the sabertooth990FX for a quad core

Planning on seeing what AMD bring next year in the form on piledriver and see about a new GPU so the extra watts will get used.

Massive overkill, a 550W unit will be plenty. Something like Antec's TPN is perfect.

The 750w PSU is slightly overkill, but honestly, im running 650w for a 400w since i will want to hold onto my current PSU for future upgrades as well, so if you have the money, go for it.

That 750 is a great PSU, overkill unless you want to get a second 275 though.
You need a good 500-650w at most.

Edit: I'm only recommending you look at 650w units because they have the cabling options you need, and the choice of good 650w units is far greater than lower wattage units, and they usually cost no more.
