Gt 240 lag!!!

Thread Starter
I have replaced my old Nvidia Gigabyte 9500GT(1gb) with a Galaxy GT240 DDR5 (512MB) that my brother passed down to me. But when i have installed the new drivers it has caused extreme lag in windows 7 32 bit. The cursor moves ever so slowly and programs open and close SUPER slow. Dont even get me started on the games.

So then i put my 9500GT back and installed the newest Nvidia drivers and guess what? yep, also lagged like it did with the 240.
anyone know whats going on?
i have also tried under clocking.

Re-do the drivers, (uninstall it and re-install them)

you might even need to do a clean install but that's unlikely

What are your actual computer specs?

Use driver sweeper, boot into safe mode and uninstall old drivers. Then boot back into normal windows and install the latest driver from nVidia.

Also try a previous versions of the GT 240 drivers which you can find on the nVidia website.

Try using a older version of the drivers as the latest might not be working properly for your cards

I have installed the oldest driver that supports GT 240 and noticed that lag occurs only when over about 53 degrees. That is only idle. I think that is pretty hot. Sometimes it will go up to 60 when im just on microsoft office. Should i invest in a GPU cooler?
