GTX 560 Ti and BF3 - Page 3

I've seen benches where the Nvidia cards do better in Ultra with 4xMSAA on over having it on high setting with 4xMSAA off.

I guess it differs with mid-level to lower end GPU's. I've been running mine in Ultra settings 4xMSAA turned on. I'm anywhere between 50-70 FPS - mostly doing well at a 60 FPS average. No slow downs, lag, stutter, etc...

I do know that BF3 has a known memory leak bug where it uses up all the VRAM each card has, just shy of maxed. I show in GPU-Z I'm using up 1.74GB out of my 1.5GB VRAM.

Wonder why the 560Ti SLI's aren't doing better than my single GTX 580? You'd think those 560Ti's coupled would out perform?

The culprit is BF3 itself. I've read AMD is having a heck of a time with crossfire configs. I'm also betting that the memory leak bug is compounding the situation.

A couple things need to happen. One - DICE improves the coding for the memory leak bug. Two - Both Nvidia/AMD work together with DICE to optimize the dual card set ups.

I am also running into the vram bottleneck in HIGH after this last patch. before the patch vram usage was high but no hiccups. Now it just has sudden drops. It really makes me mad that two of these cards cant handle this game in high with only 4x AA and no post processing etc... I dont want to get new cards now when the next generation is coming out so soon.

Anyone has any suggestions for the fps drops to smooth them out? I like playing with vsync ON (personal preference to keeps the cards cooler and not working more than they have to)

I have been having a lot of problems with battlefield 3 lately as well and i am on a SLI 460 setup (my sig rig). When SLI is on my computer completely freezes within 10 minutes of BF3 multiplayer. But when i run a Furmark bench, prime95, intel burntest, or 3d mark vantage, everything is peachy and perfect. Then when SLI is off everything runs perfectly and i get no crashes. I have tested skyrim, dota 2, starcraft 2, witcher 2, bioshock and crysis warhead with SLI on and have had no problems. I have tested an hour and a half of BF3 singleplayer without any crashes when SLI is on. So this problem seems to be isolated to SLI and BF3 multiplayer. I have even tried reformatting and that still doesnt fix it. So i guess i am just going to have to turn sli off whenever i want to play BF3 until they fix this.

The crazy thing is, i played the hell out of BF3 before skyrim came out. And once skyrim came out i took a break. I came back to battlefield a few days ago and the problem appeared out of nowhere. i never had the problem before skyrim.

For those of you running on the brink, u can gain an extra 200 MB by shutting down Aero while in BF3. To do this, simply right click BF3 in your taskbar, click the compatibilty tab, and tick "disable desktop composition."
