My boss...

My boss is so far the best boss I've ever had. His only flaw to my knowledge is this...

My boss has a ton of old office equipment that he doesn't know how to use but insists that they be used, phone systems, cubical units that don't have electricity all kinds of stuff that are easy things to fix except for one.

My boss has a Dell Power Connect 2324 that we use as our switch which is plugged into a Verizon Wireless Modem Router thing that everyone that has Verizon has.

My problem, the printer that I'm trying to print to I can see on our network but it wont allow me to connect to it. The printer is connected to a computer that is connected directly do the switch hardwired where I connect straight to the router wirelessly. The printer itself don't have an IP but I've tried using my secretarys IP address (the computer that its plugged into) and had no success there either.

Network map is broken out like this, which to me doesn't make very much sense.

My Computer ------------Verizon Router

disregard the _____s in between top and bottom.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Printer sharing enabled on the computer connected to the printer? Google how to enable it for whatever version of windows the computer is using if you're not sure.

Here's an example:

Printer sharing is enabled and my boss and our chief engineer are able to print to it from their laptops which are wirelessly connected to the router the same way, they said it just worked.

Have you mapped the printer to your computer?

Do this on the computer you are trying to print from:

Start menu-Printers and Faxes-Add a Printer

Click Next

Select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer". Click next.

Select "Find a printer in the directory". Click next.

Leave everything at default in this pop menu, and click "Find Now".

Select the printer you are trying to print to, and double click it.

Decide whether you want this printer set as your default printer. Click next.

Click Finish.

You shared the printer on her PC right?

All you should have to do is:

1. Find out her PC's name (we'll say it's PC1)
2. Go to her printers, right click the printer, go to properties. Sharing tab. Share the printer.
3. On the PC you want to have this printer, go to start>run and type in "\\\\PC1" and hit enter
4. A box will pop up with a printer in it, double click it
