It's just powering the transistors that do that calculations. I think what he's referring to is using the atoms as the gate, like the orientation of the atom determines if it's a '1' or '0' .

nm in chips means the width of the lane, relying on atoms to build these lanes would last us another 25 years or so. beyond that there is always the photon at which point moores law would have to be redefined since density is no longer any importance

We'll hit the limit of how small CPUs can go, then they'll optimize CPU designs as much as they can on that process.

And then software will be optimized for each CPU, far more than it currently is. (Like back in the 8088 days when you didn't have enough RAM to not worry about optimization)
That's unless we transfer to a different material.

Even once we hit a metaphysical wall we will still maintain exponential growth through parallelism. I fail to understand why people constantly debate the importance of the theorectical limitations of moores law.
